ARCHITECT or TECHNOLOGIST

KFA is seeking an architect or technologist, to join our firm.
KFA is a growing midsized firm located in the dynamic King / Spadina neighbourhood. We are within walking distance to Union Station and the University Avenue subway stations as well as the AGO and the OCAD.  We operate on an open studio basis that emphasizes a collaborative design approach that values and encourages input from all team members. Our clients include prestigious corporations, institutions and municipalities as well notable office and residential developers.

Qualifications include

  • A Bachelor degree in Architecture or a diploma in architectural technology
  • Membership in the OAA is a plus but not essential
  • Minimum 6 years of Canadian experience; on commercial and multiunit residential projects.
  • Proven experience in the production and coordination of contract documents in sectors noted above.
  • Knowledge of provincial building and safety codes, health and environmental standards and regulations
  • High proficiency in Revit
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop are significant assets
  • An understanding of design as illustrated by your portfolio
  • A proven ability to lead and motivate a project team and manage projects
  • A professional and confidence inspiring demeanor

Duties include
Working with the Partnership to:

  • Prepare and/or manage the development of schematic/conceptual design drawings
  • Prepare and/or manage others in the production of drawings for Building Permit Submission, Rezoning Submissions, and Site Plan Approvals, Tender using AutoCAD /Revit
  • Make on-site visits and prepare field review reports and deficiency lists as well as direct contractors and prepare Site instructions and Change Orders
  • Manage the coordination of architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural and other consultants
  • Co-ordinate and/or undertake the selection and specification of building components.

  • Minimum 10 years of Canadian experience; on commercial and multiunit residential projects.
  • Proven experience in the production and coordination of contract documents in sectors noted above.
  • Knowledge of provincial building and safety codes, health and environmental standards and regulations
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit or other 3D programs
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop are significant assets

  • A proven ability to lead and motivate a design team and manage projects
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • A professional and confidence inspiring demeanor
